St. Patrick's Day 2017

Events celebrating St Patrick’s Day are happening right across Spain. Please see the list below, which is being update on a continuous basis. 

Madrid

The St. Patrick’s Day Family Fun Day‌ will take place on Saturday 18 March at the Parque Deportivo Puerta de Hierro, from 12.00 onwards.  Everyone is welcome to join in the fun with the best of Irish sport, music, dance and food.
On Saturday 11th March the first Madrid Harps Invitational Tournament will be held on the Hortaleza Rugby pitch. There will be a ladies’ and mens’ competition and 5 clubs from Monaghan, Tyrone, Belfast, Kildare and Sligo will be visiting.
The James Joyce will be hosting a pre-St. Patrick’s Day Charity Auction & Fayre on Sunday 12 March, in aid of Debra Ireland and Spain. There will be live traditional music, face painting, book readings and plenty of exciting prizes, including an auction for a weekend away and stay at the Sandymount Hotel Dublin. It starts at 13.00, everyone welcome.
O'Neills Irish Pub Madrid will be having a special menu "Taste of Ireland" all month, and on the week of St. Patrick's they will kick off the celebrations with a pub quiz on Monday 13. Madrid

Barcelona
-        The Iomramh Cultural Association in Barcelona have organised a series of events to be enjoyed over the weekend.  From the 17-19 March the Iomramh Gallery will exhibit the work of Irish artists Johnny Fitzsimmons, Richard Hearns and Mark Redden. The 8th Mediterranean Currach Regatta will take place on Sunday 19 March at Club Patí Vela in Port Olímpic – an event for all the family – and the evening will bring entertainment with a concert from Irish band Kila in Razzmatazz. -        On Friday 17 March from 22.00-23.55 there will be traditional Irish dancing sessions with the Nuala Irish Dancers in theHard Rock Cafe de Barcelona
-        On Saturday 18 March from 11-13.30 come celebrate ST. PATRICK'S DAY 2017 en el CAT Centre Artesà Tradicionàrius de BarcelonaThe Party will start with games and dance on the street accompanied by music from Introbaveritas, followed by a concert of music and dance offered by the teachers and students of the Nuala Barcelona Irish Dancers. Moya Sands (daughter of the famous singer songwriter Tommy Sands) and other musicians will be invited
-        On March 19th from 11.30-14.30, the Secció de Ball del Club Esporitu del Port and the Nuala Barcelona Dancers are joining forces for a unique charity events. Simply turn up at Plaça Portal de la Pau, located in the Port of Barcelona, for a good old knees up involving ceili dancing, Irish dancing displays, traditional music and an all-round fun afternoon for all the family. -        The RUBRIFOLKUM Festival will take place on 11 March in Cal Ninyo, in Sant Boi de Llobregat, C/Major 43. There will be trad sessions, an Irish dance workshop with Nuala Irish dancers and concerts with FAR and Jarlath Henderson Quartet. For more information please see here.

Santa Ponsa, Mallorca
-        Join in the festivities in Santa Ponsa on Sunday 19 March with music, market, free kiddie’s attractions, food and drink and street animation, from 11.00 – 19.00. For more information please see here
Almería
-        The Universidad de Almería will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on 17 March, from 09.00 onwards with lectures (on Irish literature and music) and closing with a concert by Metal Cambra at the Alcazaba de Almería (Muro de la Vela). This event is free and open to all.
Fuengirola, Málaga
-        Pógs live music venue will host their usual St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Friday 17th from 2pm onwards. There will be a great mix of traditional Irish music, rock classics and Irish ballads. Everyone welcome!

Tenerife

-        On the evening of the 16 March there will be a special St. Patrick's Day Gala Dinner in Adeje, at 19.30. For more information please see St. Patrick's Day Gala Dinner. On the 17 March there will be 2 masses, at 12 and 7pm. And the fun will continue with The Green Train (el tren de Las Americas) which will be decorated in green and which will start its special St. Patrick's Day route at 13.00.

Valencia

-        Valencia will join in the St. Patrick's Day celebrations at the Centro Civico on 17 March. There will be supper, drinks, music, dancing, singing and fun. For more information please see St. Patrick's Day Valencia.

Cádiz

-        On 17 March Cádiz will join in the St. Patrick's Day festivities with a special concert in the emblematic and historic Torre Vigía Tavira. The folk group Stolen Notes will play there from 19-20h. For more information please see Stolen Notes.
